In 2014/2015, Geoger worked with researchers at the University of Oxford to investigate changes in land cover related to energy cropping in Africa. The requirement was to understand the temporal changes in the extent of two energy crops, namely Jatropha and sugarcane. To investigate changes over 40 years, the Landsat archive was accessed and cloud free imagery obtained. A series of open source tools were then used to create a land cover map per date, from which areal statistics were generated and fed into the next stages of the research. The in press version of the resultant paper is available using the following link:
Geoger would like to congratulate the research team on this publication, and thank everyone for the efforts that they put into making this project so interesting to work on.
